Eavesdropping (Bugs)
Once the hiding an effective audio listening device was the realm of the professional intelligence agent, and their manufacture restricted to well equipped laboratories. Now they are readily available in Spy shops around the world, and on online auction sites such as eBay.
The use of bugging devices is at an all time high, and coupled with the ability of the Internet to be the anonymous carrier of choice they are becoming more and more a threat to corporate security departments, politicians and anywhere confidential information is being discussed.
The growing interest in these devices is driven by the desire to be able to sweep conference rooms, and rid them of bugs before sensitive issues or policies are discussed. Even criminal lawyers are realizing that their conversations with clients can be bugged, and some private detectives are known to like using bugs in divorce cases. Watch what you say, you never know who is listening!
